Fishback Powers
As heard on Day to Day this morning, throughout the lifespan of the popular Christian-themed poem and fridge magnet “Footprints in the Sand”, authorship has been disputed between three separate parties.  The most recent to claim copyright is the estate of Margaret Fishback Powers.
Were it left to me to decide, I’d go with Margaret Fishback Powers.  Because her name is Margaret Fishback Powers.  And I believe, from the depths of my soul, that there’s a little Fishback Powers in each and every one of us.

The platform is the story. Platforms have staying power, and, once entrenched, are very hard to displace.

Vintage Obama bumper sticker ca. July 2006
1 of a set of 3 I purchased from CafePress long before any stated intention of a Presidential run, recently affixed to my mom’s car.  Aesthetically amateurish and obviously no match for the current official design, yet somehow bold and prescient in its quaint homebrew optimism.

Me, saving the clock tower ca. 2005Quick story: I was working on a commercial on the Universal lot and took a walk during lunch to maybe my favorite set of any movie (that being the Courthouse Square seen in the hoverboard chase of Back to the Future II).  I was making a phone call from the steps, relaxing in the sun and suddenly the tour bus pulls around the corner and a hundred tourists start snapping photos of me.Anyhow, as of today’s fire, my beloved clock tower is beyond saving.Note: the Courthouse Square had previously been victim to a fire in 1990 when a security guard, hired to keep watch on picture cars for the Sylvester Stallone masterpiece Oscar, lost control of his cigarette.  Totally worth it.
