WIDESCREEN LETTERBOXi installed the Widescreen plugin for Apple’s Mail.app last year and became an instant convert to the 3-pane side-by-side layout, rather than stacked layout that exists out of the box and threatens to crush every message under the stack of mail with which it was delivered.i anxiously await the Leopard-compatible update to Widescreen (having resorted to turning my head sideways to read all my email), and just saw today on the developer’s site that the plug-in is not only coming soon, but has been renamed has been called probably since i started using it, “Letterbox.”  i think this is an awesome and clever name for the product - because it is a non-groan-inducing play on the metaphor of the mailbox, because it keeps with the cinematic theme of its characteristic “Widescreen” and because i totally geek out over all things aspect ratio.  so, nice move, Aaron Harnly.  can’t wait to use it.
