Dave Brubeck Quartet - “Take Five” (1961)
This version of the famous anthem of West Coast cool, at a slightly quicker tempo than what you’re used to, reinvigorates my love of the song. Joe Morello’s drum solo is so nice - he kicks off with one stick and one bare hand on the snare, then moves to two sticks with the snare turned off, then he turns on the snare for maximum West Coast cool.
