Krasinski Cutting his Teeth and Expanding his Brain on David Foster Wallace

The New York Times has a brief and cursory interview with 28-year-old John Krasinski (you know him as ‘Jim’ from The Office) on adapting Wallace’s Brief Interviews with Hideous Men for the screen.  DFW fans will lap up any DFW poop they can, and I am one, so here it is.

Krasinski: It’s basically a cinematic experience where you go behind the scenes of what it’s like to be a guy — in David’s world, not necessarily the real world.

Can you imagine your first time out as a young director and you’re tackling the work of an author of such enormous scale, revered by so many as the literary voice of his generation that you’re nearly inevitably doomed to disappoint?  I’d be scared shitless.  But he seems like a nice guy, so the literati will probably go easy on him.
