“For the memory of a lifetime, Rekall, Rekall, Rekall.”
Raza and I had one of our famous and fabulous Early 90s Film Club screenings last weekend. On the evening’s program, “Total Recall” (1990). Such a fantastic movie, gets even better with age.
My fantasy is that we start a tumblr in which we post in advance when and what early 90s film we’ll be watching (usually at my house, invariably soused) and that people who care to will join us to watch the movies (usually at their house, invariably soused). We would encourage our new friends to acquire the movies by any means: Netflix, iTunes, Redbox, Target, Stealing, and the format is unimportant (although ideally, we’d all watch on VHS). During and after, we would all collaborate to collect our impressions, memories, screencaps and glittercollages by submitting to the tumblr.
Here are some of E90FC’s past screenings:

“The Firm” (1993) dir. Sydney Pollack
“Disclosure” (1994) dir. Barry Levinson
“The Net” (1995) dir. Irwin Winkler
“Demolition Man” (1993) dir. Marco Brambilla
“Death Becomes Her” (1992) dir. Robert Zemeckis
“Rising Sun” (1993) dir. Philip Kaufman
“Wolf” (1994) dir. Mike Nichols
“Bonfire of the Vanities” (1990) dir. Brian de Palma

And here are some of E90FC’s upcoming screenings:

“Speed” (1994) dir. Jan de Bont
“Freejack” (1992) dir. Geoff Murphy
“Dave” (1993) dir. Ivan Reitman
“L.A. Story” (1991) dir. Mick Jackson
“Point Break” (1991) dir. Kathryn Bigelow
“Strange Days” (1995) dir. Kathryn Bigelow
“Soapdish” (1991) dir. Michael Hoffman

We tend to favor the Sci-fi and Action-Thriller genres, or anything which hilariously features the tech of the time, but I guess it would make sense to take any and all programming suggestions.

UPDATE: So it’s settled. We’re taking suggestions and compiling them here. Once we’ve selected our the movie for our first screening, we’ll let the club know when it’s happening.
