“Synecdoche, NY” (2008)

I found myself at certain points during this movie thinking of how I would express my appreciation for it here. That is, I started watching myself comment on the thing I was currently so engaged in watching. So I decided to stop. I gave it this many stars because it meant something very great to me. I think that if you see it, you’ll give it some stars because it means something to you.
I will say this: I think that Charlie Kaufman is taking the baton from Woody Allen. And he’s doing it in on a track next to Paul Thomas Anderson.
And while the casting in its entirety is among the best I’ve ever seen in any movie, I’m going to go ahead and say that Emily Watson as Samantha Morton as Hazel is a singularly and eerily perfect piece of characterization.
